Surfari has joined with Master Yoga Instructor JoAnne Parsons Breau to provide stand up paddle yoga classes to get you out of the studio and onto the water this summer! Float peacefully with the tide and get in rhythm with the gentle flow of ocean swells. The meditative calm of floating on the water while practicing yoga with the soothing sounds of the ocean in the background can only heighten your inner tranquility.
In SUP Yoga, your stand up paddle board is your mat floating on the water. Your routine is enhanced by practicing postures on a dynamic medium which requires a little extra balance and concentration.
Classes start from behind our shop where you will get your gear and then paddle ten to fifteen minutes to warm up and get to one of our favorite protected spots in beautiful Manchester Harbor. JoAnne will then lead a moderately paced Vinyasa Yoga Flow. This flow is designed for all levels of students. This will be followed by a cool down paddle back to our start off point.
Classes are approximately 90 minutes long and include board, paddle and PFD. Please arrive at Surfari ten to fifteen minutes early to get your equipment into the water. Please bring your own sunblock, appropriate clothing (be prepared to get wet!), towel, and water (please no plastic water bottles).
Some pre-requisites include knowing how to swim and previous paddle board experience. See our stand up paddle classes. All levels of yoga students are encouraged to join, including beginners!

JoAnne has been studying and practicing yoga for more than 12 years, with a focus on Vinyasa for more than eight years. In 2002, JoAnne travelled to the Yucatan Rain Forest to complete her first teacher training (Baptiste Power Yoga). There she met and worked with some of the great teachers from around the globe, including Gregor Singleton, Baron Baptiste (author of Journey into Power) and Rolf Gates (author of Meditation from the Mat). From that moment on, JoAnne knew there was no turning back – she had found her passion!
JoAnne has a BS in Business, as well as a Nursing degree. This nursing background gives JoAnne a deeper understanding of anatomy and physiology.
More than any other teacher, JoAnne considers her greatest teachers to be her two daughters.
